What it removes
AI writing tools output typographic characters that look fine in a chat window but cause trouble elsewhere: em dashes and curly quotes that clash with your style guide, non-breaking and thin spaces that break line wrapping and search, and zero-width characters that are invisible but still there — they can break copy-paste, URL slugs, spreadsheet formulas and exact-match search.
Each rule shows how many matches it found. Turn rules on or off; the output updates instantly. Markdown stripping is off by default because many CMSs accept Markdown.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't rewrite sentences, and it won't make text "undetectable". Cleaning characters is a formatting step. If AI text reads like AI text, the fix is editing: cutting filler, adding specifics, stating the number instead of hedging. The same editing makes content more quotable in AI answers, which favor clear, specific statements.

Do AI tools add hidden watermark characters?+
Invisible characters such as zero-width spaces and non-breaking spaces do turn up in AI output, often from formatting rather than deliberate watermarking. Whatever the source, this tool finds and removes them.
Why replace em dashes?+
Em dashes are correct punctuation, but heavy use has become a common tell of AI drafts and many style guides limit them. The tool replaces them with a spaced hyphen; you can rewrite those spots as commas or full stops.
Is my text saved?+
No. The page never sends your text anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.
